Το THATCamp (The Humanities and Technology Camp) είναι μια ανοικτή συνάντηση όπου άτομα των ανθρωπιστικών και των τεχνολογικών επιστημών, μαθαίνουν και χτίζουν μαζί πάνω σε θέματα που προτείνονται επί τόπου. Το THATCamp είναι ένα μη-συνέδριο όπου οι συμμετέχοντες, αντί να παρακολουθούν προετοιμασμένες παρουσιάσεις, συνεργάζονται επιτόπου για να δημιουργήσουν το πρόγραμμα.
Το THATCamp Cyprus προτίθεται να εξερευνήσει ευρέως τη σχέση των ανθρωπιστικών και τεχνολογικών επιστημών, καθώς και τις πιθανότητες που ανοίγονται μεταξύ τους, ενώ ταυτόχρονα προτίθεται να φέρει λύσεις σε τοπικά ζητήματα. Καθώς φιλοξενείται από το Εργαστήρι Οπτικής Κοινωνιολογίας και Μουσειολογίας (του Τμήματος Πολυμέσων και Γραφικών Τεχνών του Τεχνολογικού Πανεπιστημείου Κύπρου) το THATCamp Cyprus ενδιαφέρεται επίσης για τους τρόπους με τους οποίους νέες τεχνολογίες και πλατφόρμες αλλάζουν θεμελιώδη πράγματα για την κοινωνική έρευνα, τα μουσεία, τα αρχεία, τα πανεπιστήμια, και την εκπαίδευση γενικότερα.
Το THATCamp Cyprus θα λάβει χώρα το Σαββατοκύριακο των 3 – 4 Σεπ. 2011 στη Λεμεσό, στο Τεχνολογικό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου.

THATCamp (The Humanities and Technology Camp) is an open meeting where humanists and technologists of all skill levels learn and build together in sessions proposed on the spot. It is an unconference which means that there are no presentations and all participants work together to form the program.
The first THATCamp Cyprus will be held over the weekend of 3-4 September 2011 in Limassol, Cyprus, at the Cyprus University of Technology.
THATCamp Cyprus is committed to explore the full breadth of how Technology and the Humanities intersect and integrate, while at the same time it wishes to take advantage of its Cyprus-specificity to suggest solutions to local questions. Hosted by the Visual Sociology and Museum Studies Lab (Cyprus University of Technology, Dept. of Multimedia and Graphic Arts) THATCamp Cyprus is also interested in how new technologies and platforms are changing fundamental things about social research, museums, archives, academia and education in more general terms.
