Drawing with light

Call for Participants

NeMe, the Semiotics and Visual Communications Lab of the Cyprus University of Technology, and the Cyprus Photographic Society (Limassol Branch) are launching this open call for workshops participants from the arts, design, technology, other disciplines, and the general public.

The two workshops, Drawing with Light, will be focusing on cameraless photography and will be led by Los Angeles based artist, Sheila Pinkel. Participants will make cameraless images in both the darkroom and sunlight. They will also be encouraged to use whatever media they have access to in order to represent the flora of Cyprus and its meaning in our lives.

As darkroom space is limited there is a limit of 8 participants per group:

  • Group 1: Saturday September 9th & Saturday September 16th, 10am until 5pm (lunch break 1pm – 2:30pm)
  • Group 2: Sunday September 10th & Sunday 17th, 10am until 5pm (lunch break 1pm – 2:30pm)

Additional darkroom time can be arranged if required.

Those interested should call on 25-372675 to reserve a place by 7 September 2017.

The workshops will be in English and participation is free of charge.

Selected results from these workshops will be included in the exhibition Phenomenological Lightworks at the NeMe Arts Centre (30/09/2017 until 25/10/2017) and the exhibition publication.
